Hey everyone! Yes, I know, it’s been over two months since I’ve written anything. Please forgive me! I get a little busy when I tour, and don’t find a whole lot of time between schoolwork, socializing, setting up, and performing. So now this blog post will have two parts, a deep part and a light-hearted part (“You get the besssstttt of both worlds” >insert Hannah Montana here.) but don’t worry, I’ll try to keep it short!
Lately I feel like God has really placed an analogy on my heart, and it’s one I relate to well because I love children's books, so get ready to hear the Ugly Duckling all over again. He’s brought up with a bunch of other ducks where he soon realizes he doesn’t fit in, and then he later finds out who he really is when he meets the other swans, right? It had a deeper meaning to me tonight. Jesus placed me here on earth, but honestly, there are so many times where I feel like an ugly duckling. I feel like I don’t fit in; I just seem to ruffle feathers. Why? Because we aren’t meant to truly ‘fit in’ here-we aren’t with our Maker. He created us to have a longing for Him, and it can’t be filled completely until we meet Him and stay with Him for eternity. You may feel like the Ugly Duckling, like you are missing the material beauty everyone seems to have. You might be trying very hard to be just like the other ducklings. But in the end, you aren’t really a duckling at all; in fact, you’re a swan that is being made more and more beautiful everyday. So stop trying to be just another duckling, and let following Christ form you into the true self you were created to be.
Okie dokie, on a humorous note and for an overall idea of the fun we had on this last tour and how God has blessed us, here is a list of what NOT to do when touring:
DO NOT let Prestin brush his teeth and spit it out the van window on the freeway, it’s a disgusting excuse for a car wash.
DO NOT give the ‘okay’ for one middle-schooler to come up on stage, somehow you’ll end up with 60. Things will be broken-lesson learned.
DO NOT leave Derek locked outside a house for a night to sleep in the van-most likely, he’ll need to use the restroom around 2 a.m.
DO NOT let Prestin get underneath giant speaker covers and walk around. It made me laugh too hard; I couldn’t stop crying.
DO NOT pet the creepy, mangled 17 year-old-cat in someone’s laundry room, or she will start to meow in a scary way, slowly crawl over the baby gate until she falls on the other side, and get up in the night to walk over you in bed while you all you can do is muster up the courage to whisper “Jacob…. it’s got me!”
DO NOT watch In The Name of the King. Enough said.
More will be added, but currently my memory is failing me! All in all, it was an amazing tour. God was there and moving full-throttle. Can’t wait to see where He takes us and what other great memories will result from it! Blessed to share with you all! : )
